About the Concert

Who:
After being diagnosed in 1997 with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Elizabeth vowed to find a way to raise the profile of this devastating illness. With unwavering determination, and the full support of family and friends, her dream of a benefit concert become a reality on February 2nd, 2001.
How:
Elizabeth wrote hundreds of letters and those called upon answered her request for help. Endorsed by the business community, some of Canada's most renowned and caring entertainers and a group of dedicated volunteers, the 15 concerts in total have raised 2.5 million dollars.
Where:
These high profile concerts have been hosted in numerous cities across the country: Hamilton, ON (6 concerts), Ottawa, ON (1 concert), Vancouver, BC (2 concerts), Calgary, AB (1 concert), Winnipeg, MB (1 concert), Regina, SK (1 concert), Halifax, NS (1 concert), Summerside, PEI (1 concert) and Corner Brook, NF (1 concert).
Why:
Since 2001, funds raised have been directed to support the ALS community.
Living with ALS, a crippling disease has inspired Elizabeth and her team to broaden their reach to support anyone in need with a particular interest in accessibility and mobility.
What's Next:
Elizabeth's Concert of Hope will launch “The Mobility Tour” this fall, 2008. The cornerstone of the project is The Dofasco Centre for the Arts, Hamilton Ontario - where it all began.
